Solitude used to be so special
till you came between us.
I think of you when I'm with her
and she knows that I do.
And it's not the same any more.
Nor can it ever be.

Wow, this is really good in such few words. I can really relate to this experience!! Off to his site...
Thank you Jules and Jade. I have always taken pains with my poetry to make the words earn their keep. And, of course, thanks to Angela for giving this old one an outing.
'I have always taken pains with my poetry to make the words earn their keep.'
Very nice.

Thank you for your kind comments, Suze, Janet and Kitty. As a kid I was quite a solitudinous individual. I wasn’t exactly misanthropic but I didn’t really have much need for the company of others. After I got married the first time and the “two” had become “one” I found that things weren’t quite the same and when she left I always said that she took half of me with her. I’m not being overly sentimental when I say that, what I mean was I suddenly found I was no longer comfortable with my own company. Solitude, who for such a long time had been my friend, was no longer there for me; my first wife had ruined that relationship.
I had a wee look at all your profiles and sites by the way. I’m also a huge fan of Blade Runner, Kitty. Christ knows how many times I’ve seen it in each of its various incarnations. I also have three different sets of the soundtrack. As you’re a fan of Terry Pratchett you should have a look at my first two novels. One reviewer described the writing as “Alan Bennett meets Terry Pratchett.”
It's to the point!
That poem is lovely, and he definitely doesn't mince words!
I've never heard of him, but I think this poem rocks! Thanks for sharing this.

Lovely poem..and so true! We feel good with our loneliness, untill someone special comes around..and after that, nothing will ever be the same.. :( I really miss somebody..maybe that's why I'm so sad now..
